July 2019: EduLearn19 (11th annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies)
EduLearn19 involved more than 800 participants from 80 different countries from a wide range of education related fields including academics, researchers, technical staff, secondary, vocational and tertiary speakers all with a shared passion for learning. Run by the International Academy of Technology, Education and Development (IATED), EduLearn19 delegates actively participated in a range of sessions (including interactive, oral and poster sessions), hands-on workshops and networking activities.
As part of our work in the Altitude Group, Professor Lisa Farrell, Dr Avni Misra, Ms Udeni De Silva Perera and Associate Professor Angela Dobele proposed a session around gender equity in academia. Our session proposal was accepted and Dr Misra, Ms De Silva Perera and Associate Professor Dobele attended the conference (see photo) with Professor Farrell participating virtually via Skype. We presented four double-blind reviewed conference papers on the topics of Gender Lensing, Sticky Floors, Self-Promotion and the Digital Faces of Gendered Universities.
